I live in northern Alabama and was looking to convert my carport into a living room with a fireplace centered on the peak of the house. The front of the house faces the south.
Do I need to re-do the concrete? I worry that the footing for a carport pour is not sufficient for a living space. The concrete is good condition aside from it needing a good cleaning. Can I get away with installing flooring with a vapor barrier and insulation?
I am aware of the energy loss and hope to remedy it, however, as I am doing this conversion I want to make sure I am covering all of my bases.
