We had both our fireplaces serviced recently and ever since I’ve noticed orange flashes in the downstairs pilot burner

It's normal when there is airborne dust. Each dust mote that hits the flame makes an orange flash.

You can demonstrate this for yourself by opening the glass door (if there is one) and stamping your foot in the general vicinity of the pilot flame. You will see a marked increase in the number of orange flashes.
