I am looking for advice to patch this hole in a paper-thin enclosed sunroom. It is really like paper! When I peeled off the hanging paint to get a better idea, it was clear I needed a different solution so that I didn't make it worse.

I have mud, tape, etc., but I think that is too much weight. Maybe just place tape inside the hole and paint over it? The ceiling is dry, no leaks.

I have no idea what that is, but I'd repair paper with paper. Brush a bit of thinned white glue or spray adhesive onto some heavy paper and smooth it on. Do your best to not damage the delicate fringe along the edges.

I'd be tearing it out and putting up a proper material, but that's just me.
