I’m trying to understand my hydronic heating system so that I have a better grasp of how it works and is supposed to work. I think I’ve got it down, but then I was wondering about a flow check valve and if that is installed correctly.

In the photograph there are two, both on the hot supply line—-it’s a two-zone system so each has its own. I believe the bottom one is installed correctly as the arrow is pointing right (the direction I’m thinking the water is flowing). The top one I’m not sure about: the arrow is pointing left and I would have thought should also point to the right, like the other one. Is that mounted correctly, and if not, what are the potential effects?

Thanks
