The lower part of one of my garage doors often gets wet due to splashes from water dripping on puddles outside, and the lower part of the door where one of the metal brackets with a roller attaches is rotted. I've started to look into it, and there aren't good options to only replace that one panel, and I'd like to avoid the cost of replacing the entire door.
What I'm looking for, if it exists, is a way to mount a larger metal plate or bracket to a larger part of the door close to the middle that isn't rotten. I'm not sure if such a standard plate exists, vs. finding an option a sheet metal plate or U bracket that I could mount and attach the existing hardware. We need to consider that even if I can mount the metal plate to a non-rotted part of the door, we need some way for the bolts to be stably mounted. If there isn't some kind of larger replacement bracket with everything built in available, perhaps there's a metal bracket with threads that would accept bolts, or, failing that, we could use a bolt that goes through the door/U bracket and into a nut on the other side. Links to any products would be appreciated.
