I had to demo my shower due to a water leak. After I get it all apart I find this very large hole in the center, filled with dirt, surrounding the drain pipe. I want to place a Schluter Kerdi shower pan on the concrete. Can I leave the hole alone or do I need to do something here to further prepare the sub-floor? Also, the dirt is very moist and a little smelly due to all the moisture that got into it. What are my next steps?
