Is this closet wall load bearing? I don’t think this is load bearing but just wanted to get other opinions. It’s a closet and runs parallel with the ceiling joists.

I'm 95% confident that there's no bearing on these walls, for these reasons:

  • The headers are undersized for bearing walls.

  • We see cross-blocking for wall anchoring above, and not direct bearing of roof framing members.

  • The bearing points of the full-span roof trusses are visible on the exterior wall.

Some other notes for minor improvement of the framing:

  • The pin studs over the header are not on standard 16" centers. That's a lazy/cheap shortcut that can make mounting things later (like drywall) a bit of a hassle. The pointless window sill doubler would've served better here. (Edit: I now see the same odd layout on the wall below. I don't know what's going on here.)

  • The backing on the intersecting wall forming the left end of the closet should be continuous (or nearly so). There are fairly long vertical segments of unsupported drywall in its future. A few scraps of two-by nailed to the end stud would really help. You could also nail on steel sheet angle backing.

  • The same could be said of the ceiling over the closet front wall. I'd have rather had half as many cross-blocks and full backing on top of the wall. A ceiling is less vulnerable than the wall corner, but....
