My husband and I live in a beautiful home at the very top of an extremely steep driveway. We are getting older and no longer able to get the trash cans up and down the driveway for trash pickup, and don’t have neighbors close by for help. Looking for a solution that would allow us to stay in our home. Any ideas out there?

I've known a few folks to move their trash bins with the aid of outdoor power equipment: a riding lawn mower, an ATV, or even a side-by-side UTV. With some mechanical creativity one could devise a scheme for attaching the trash bin to the machine so that the bin can be hauled up and down the driveway on its own integrated wheels or on a wagon, cart, or hand-truck-like accessory.
Maybe there's a suitable place in the landscape to store the trash bins permanently at the bottom of the driveway - concealed in the midst of trees or shrubs, or around a retaining wall, etc. If so then you might leave the bins at the bottom and bring the trash to them. Carry the trash to the collection bins in bags or a tote that's smaller, lighter, and more manageable, perhaps by carrying it/them down the hill in your car's trunk whenever you're going out for other reasons.

If your garbage pickup is private, ask the company if they will come up and get the bins for a fee or ask the crew if they'll do it for a tip.
If municipal they probably have a program you can sign up for. Call public works and ask.

Assuming we are talking about wheelie bins.
If you are able to install a tow bar on your car, there are gizmos that keep the lid closed and allow you to tow the bin, carefully and slowly. I used to use o e myself, because in the previous property, the roadside was 300m from the house.
