I intend to install a Schluter drain for my shower remodel. As you can see in the picture below, there is rebar very close to the shower drain. There is about 3 3/8" of depth between the top of the concrete slab floor to the rebar.
I've calculated that the length from the floor to the bottom of the Schluter drain will need to be about 3 7/16". This is already taking into account the spacers included in the drain kit which elevate the drain slightly above the floor. This means that I am about 1/16" too shallow.
Will the thinset applied to the Schluter drain make up the 1/16" that I need, or is this too close for comfort?

You can cut the re bar. It's not adding much strength to the slab when it's exposed like that.
