I bought a tiny house. I put in new hot water heater. All was well until we ran into delays getting house ready to live in. For 3 weeks, the hot water heater was on but not used. Now water is stinky like farts. But it's not stinky in the toilet which is before the heater. Cold and hot water are both stinky. I discovered this when I could finally move in.

Could be caused by minerals in the water or bacteria growth in the water heater. You can try flushing and sanitizing your water heater.
