I have countertop foaming soap dispensers in the bathrooms in my house. Every so often I refill them with a mixture of about 5:1 water to dawn liquid dish soap, and they have been working well for months if not years.

One of them is this model, which is intentionally refillable:

Another of them is this product, which I have been refilling after the initial soap mixture was exhausted:

Recently, after refilling each of them a few weeks apart, the pumps became suddenly much harder to operate, requiring a lot more force to push down. I didn't think much of it when it happened the first time, but now it has happened to both.

What might I have done wrong? Did I not mix enough water in with the soap, or perhaps too much water?
