I'm doing a small unfinished garage wall project installing some steel junction boxes and 3/4 and/or 1/2 inch EMT between them. Looks like the EMT compression connectors to the boxes (see screencap for example only) will slightly extend the length of the conduit - is that a standard amount or do I just need to measure the ones I get?

Looking at a sample 3/4 inch compression connector, it looks like the incoming EMT end seats on the inside wall of the “bulge” that buts up against the junction box side, so perhaps only 1/8 inch of added length. Is that pretty standard for such connectors?

Yes, as illustrated in the drawing, it's a tiny amount - less than 1/8 inch. So if you cut the pipe 1/8" shy of the face of the box, it'll fit just fine.
