I have an LG GSL325PZYZ APZQEUT side-by-side fridge+freezer combination where the water dispenser and ice making is broken.

What I have found out so far:

  • Device uses internal tank, is not connected to water line. The tank is installed and full.
  • Ice maker is switched on. Pressing its reset button for 3-5 seconds does not change anything.
  • Dispenser of ice cubes and crushed ice is working (if I manually fill in ice cubes).
  • No water is pumped into the ice maker.
  • When the dispenser is pressed for cold water, no noise is made in the back of the fridge. The dispenser light activates, though.
  • If I disconnect the dispenser pump in the back and apply 12V to it directly, it works (at least it vibrates and makes noise).
  • My multimeter does not measure any voltage on the pump connectors from the fridge when I activate the dispenser for cold water.
  • I opened the cover of the control board on the top and there is no visible damage (no exploded caps, no burned connectors, no cut wires, etc.).
  • Door sensors seem to be working fine.

It is my understanding that when I activate the dispenser for cold water, the pump should always and immediately start, is this correct? If yes, it seems the problem is neither the pump itself nor one of the usual "air in tube" problems. What else could it be and how do I test it? AFAIU there is for example a (magnetic?) sensor in the door that checks whether the water tank is inserted. How could I test that sensor? Or one of the valves for the water flow?
