My mother has dementia. She is on hospice care at my house. Hospital bed has full rails. She keeps sticking her legs through the rails or scooting to the end where there's about a foot & a half with no railing. She can't walk. I need something that will block the length of the bed that I can easily remove. It needs to slide in front or behind the rails. Suggestions welcomed!

Sorry to hear about your mother.
Pads are made for hospital beds for this purpose. Some are called seizure pads and others are specifically for gap blocking. Here is an example:

You should search for pads made specifically for your hospital bed. You might also check with your hospice company - they are there to help and likely have access to renting or buying such pads.
I would avoid rigging something up with wood or metal - thin skin does not fare well against sharp or rough edges.
