Can somebody tell me plumbers' top secret, namely how do I remove that white holding ring under the sink. My hand is strong, but not enough for this bugger. I tried wrenches and all but nothing can get into that space, including myself. I am ashamed to admit that I once used a scorched Earth "technique" with cutoff tool to cut through such a ring (and brazing the surrounding area too). In this situation I cannot get the tool in that space. That coupler will need to be unscrewed from the tube also. Any tools you can use in a real situation like this? I am trying to install a new faucet in place of the old one.

The plumber's secret is to always have a basin wrench in the truck. It will make short work of your impossible task. You can use the same tool on the coupler as well.

Though I'm no expert, I would use a strap wrench, which is a handy, general-purpose tool to have around.
Other tools like a basin wrench may be better suited to the task, but they're not general purpose tools. A strap wrench can be used for many different, varying tasks.
