Need to extend a split circuit that is 10 inches too short for the new location. For the spliced area can I drywall over area? If not what is work around?

Any splice in a circuit must be in an electrical box.
Those boxes must be accessible without tools. Drywalling over them is a big no-no. Having an access door that can be open by hand is okay, so is hanging a picture over it, so is having furniture in front of the box, if it can be moved by hand without tools.
There are a few/couple of special splices that are allowed inside walls in a few locations. You will need to talk to the local electrical inspector if they are allowed in your location.
