My McGraw 20 gal vertical air compressor will not release air to the hose when I connect air hose & tools. I have verified the tools are OK & the air hoses are OK with another compressor. I can release air via the bleeder valves at top and bottom of tank & the compressor will auto start to replenish the air volume in tank. The unit is about 14 months old with only amateur usage not professional full time usage.

You may want to let all air out of the tank and then check the fittings, piping and the output side adjustable pressure regulator. Several things come to mind to check...

  1. TFE tape used to seal threads on a fitting may have gotten stretched across the end of the fitting effectively sealing off the line.
  2. The pressure regulator may be faulty or adjusted fully off.
  3. Possible debris trapped in the piping.

You should have 2 pressure gauges, 1 for tank pressure and a second for outlet pressure. If the outlet pressure control is set to zero, you won't get any air out of the hose.

The other likely problem would be failure of the pressure regulator.
