I am experimenting to grow low-chill stone fruits namely peaches var."Florida Sun" and plums var. "Black Amber" into Zone 13 tropics. I know that they aren't recommended for Zone 13 or hot tropics. But I wonder what will be outcome of such an experiment? Will the plants simply die due to tropic heats? Will they be less productive? Will they live for a cycle and then fail to budbreak? Will they need Hydrogen Cyanamide (Dormex) or Paclobutrazol?
P.s. I am not planning to grow them in air conditioned microclimate as also not aiming for a marketable produce. Has anyone conducted such an experiment and can enlighten me about the same?
