Over the past couple of years I have noticed that the live oaks in my South Florida neighborhood seem to have issues on their bark. Dark and protruding patches of bark start and eventually the trees seem to be enveloped in this sickly looking bark. See photos below. The first below is of a tree that used to look like the trees pictured below. Does anyone have any clue what is happening?
