I planted some begonias ("Begonia Mardi Gras") about four weeks ago and they are not doing well:
I am in south-east England, and they are in a planter (80 x 25 x 25 cm) about 15 cm from a west-facing wall. I used Levington multi-purpose compost. They were living outdoors at the garden centre I got them from.
The weather has been hot (in excess of 30 °C some days) and sunny recently, and the fleabane next to them on the left seems very happy. Other plants (not begonias) in another planter next to the one in the photo are also doing well. They all get the same watering, at the moment the soil is little bit dry to finger depth.
I searched and the options seem to be: too much water, too much sunshine, and/or not enough space for air to circulate.
Is there anything I can do to save them?
