my vw passat rear door handle will not lock when i lock the car. I have hange the door locking mechanism. This has stoped the alarm going off. However i can open the door when the car has been armed. What cam i doo to stop this happening? Thanks

Had the same thing happen with my 2012 VW Passat. It only happened when it was raining and then freezing cold. Only fix was spray silicon based WD-40 or equivalent to lube it up. Had to do it several times. Issue is that the wire that runs from/to the locking mechanism gets snagged and freezes.
Beyond spraying with a water resistive lubricant, you can take the door cover panel out, and clean up and gunk built up on the locking system internally, lub it, and close the panel back.
As a work around, until i got that fixed, i carried bungee ropes in the car, to tie the doors down inside, so they wont open up while driving. It "fixed" itself after the car got really warm on the inside. Its that, or you just wait 30 minutes with the heat blasting inside the car.
