My hot water tank is in the garage. The hot water line that feeds the kitchen is so far away that its always cold when I turn it on. I have an under sink water heater. Can I feed this small water heater with water from the hot side of my water heater instead of connecting it to a cold water line?

Yes - it has to have a thermostat, so it will only heat water as much as needed, though a likely pattern of temperature variation for use exceeding the size of the small heater would be
- hot from local heater
- warm-ish from local heater heating cooled water in hot line
- hot mostly from non-local heater with slight supplement from local heater if needed.
