Questions tagged [part-identification]

Questions about identifying pieces or components of tools, appliances, pipes, or other home-improvement-related pieces of hardware. Please tell us where you found the part, and if possible provide the best possible pictures.

When to use this tag

Use this tag on questions about any unidentified screw, pipe fitting, electrical component, appliance part, or other object you don't know the purpose or origin of.

Please provide pictures of your mystery piece(s), ideally clean, clear, and well lit. Where possible, include pictures showing the context in which you found the part (e.g. in the box or attached to the pipe where you found it), and if possible include a ruler or measuring tape so we can better tell how big the item is. Please also explain in text where you found the part, what, if anything, it came with or was attached to, and what it seemed to be doing in its original context.
